Why do I have a feeling I’ll hear from 764 Larchmonters on this one?

I am looking for a community with easy commuting to Grand Central Station, affordable housing and good schools. We are a young family and growing. The posts I looked at were 2008 and wondered if anyone could weigh in with suggestions. I live in Brooklyn and have a 45 min. commute to work. I am willing to commute up to an hour.
Cortlandt Manor is a good area as is Yorktown, though property taxes are high. Bedford Hills and/or Mount Kisco have good schools and are an hour away from the city.
Mahopac isn’t terrible, though the commute is a bit more than 1 hour.
