The NY Times’ “Subway Issue”

subwaypictureswide.jpg

The whole of the current weekly “Metropolitan” section of the NY Times is dedicated to the NYC subway system. There are vintage photos, a few pages of rider complaints (door blockers! kill ‘em all!), another page of rider questions for the experts (why does the HEET turnstile, AKA, the “iron maiden”, turn clockwise upon exiting?), a profile of MTA beleaguered chairman Jay Walder (that’s his official title now–”Beleaguered Chairman”), and even a detailed look at the subway preachers who make your commute that much more holy.

It’s a fun read–check it out.
