A small crew of builders were on the lawn at Hawthorne train station yesterday, erecting some sort of monument.
We think it’s one of those fancy grandfather clocks that the town of Mount Pleasant has been raising funds for for about three years. (“Tick Tock, Time For a Clock”…you’ve seen the signs around town.)
A few weeks ago, Town Supervisor Joan Maybury said the Valhalla and Hawthorne stations were getting makeovers, including new parking spots in Val and the new clock in Hawth. She’d said May or June for the clock; maybe it’s come–like that 8:43 express a few weeks ago–a wee bit early.
“There’ll be a rejuvenated look to the area,” Maybury said. “We’ll certainly clean up the building.”
