The Night The Lights Went Out in Newark

Reader Scott would like to know when New Jersey Transit plans to fix the signal system in Newark after the fire there two months ago.

New Jersey Transit initially said repairs would take “several weeks.” Anyone got any intell?

Is there any news about repairing the signal outage at Newark that was caused by a fire on April 26?  Not much effect on NY commuters, but for those of us who commute to and from Newark, it’s a nightmare:  The trains are no longer posted on the platform video screens, there is a train announcer during rush hour who gets the train wrong at least half the time (he’ll announce that the train is Gladstone when it’s actually Montclair, etc.), and the trainmen are deluged by people trying to figure out which train to get on.  I don’t see any repairs going on in the building in which the fire occurred….any news on your end?

C’mon, you should know by now that it may never be fixed. Nobody at NJ Transit cares. And if they think those train cars in DC were old they should come take a look at the ones being used on the NJ Transit NE corridor. When that situation finally blows up it will be monumental!
