No Fare!

Greeting Metro-North riders yesterday evening, and again this morning, was a flyer announcement the fare hikes, which go into effect Wednesday, June 17. One-way, ten-trip, weekly and monthly tickets go up between 5% and 11.6%. Intermediate full fares–I have no idea what those are–go up between 7.1% and 13.9%, and the on-board fare penalty (the “unfare”) goes from $5 to $6.

Metro-North gamely suggests some money-saving tips, such as saving 2% through WebTicket and asking the good folks up on HR about pre-tax transit programs.

Of course, there’s also the Commuter Cash program, which I signed up for and got $10.55 back from last month.
