Station Stops Boards to Go Digital?

Has anyone noticed the sweet digital board at the top of track 30? Whereas every track has a manually operated board saying what all the stops are on that train–it’s about the size of a large poster–this one is fully digital, and of course features commercials.

(When I saw it Friday it was an ad for Univision, which is sort of noteworthy, as the Spanish-language TV giant obviously believes that enough of its target demo rides the rails to GCT with Whitey from Old Greenwich.)

I snapped a pic of the board late Friday, when a pair of those Metro-North body counters (women, often angry, wearing brightly colored vests and clicking off each rider as they pass like an umpire logging balls and strikes) framed the board. One of them got very testy and told me I could not take pictures of her; surely she had me for some Arnold Diaz minion, doing some investigative piece on how the Metro-North body counters don’t really do their jobs.

I gestured to the bright digital board behind her with sign language that clearly stated that I found the board more interesting than her. She threw up her hands and walked away, surely missing a few riders’ passage as she passed.

they’ve been operational for nearly a year now.
However, the sticker at the bottom “For test purposes only” has been removed within the last couple of months.

    Wheres the photo?

I can’t believe there are MTA employees STILL telling people they can’t take pictures.

This has been hashed and re-hashed.

Looks like we need to threaten to take MTA to court again to make this perfectly clear – just like we did on the subways.
