JerseyJim: The Pipes, the Pipes are Calling

“Ladies and Gentleman, Final stop in Penn Station, New York,” went the New Jersey Transit announcement this morning. “Please remember items the overhead rack, and take your belongings with you when you exit the train, including bagpipes.”

In case I missed the clatch of green sweaters and plaid ties today to signal St. Patrick’s Day, I was pleasantly reminded as I saw two bagpipers, fully garbed with kilts, uniforms, and tam-o-shanters.

Surely outwitting the inbound traffic that will delay many a fire truck to the NYC St. Patrick’s Day parade, this plaid pair rightly employed the four-seater on the end of the car, for safest passage of their extra gear, and questionable use of undergarments.

“Be safe out there!” the announcement concluded.
