Valet Parking at Hawthorne Station?

I’m 78% sure I saw this correctly.

I was hopping up the stairs to catch the 8:43 this morning when a man at the bottom of the stairs yelled up in our direction. I ignored his first yell, then halted on his second.

“The man wants to know if you left your keys in the car!” bellowed a man in white-collar work clothes, who appeared to be relaying a question from one of the guys at the taxi stand.

Since I don’t drive a car to the station, I ignored the man. But the woman on the stairs next to me turned and yelled, “I left them in the ignition,” or something like that.

I looked down to the lot and saw a dark sedan idling near the taxi stand.

If I’m reading this correctly, it’s fairly revolutionary stuff. If you arrive late at the station parking lot, or if you’re really lazy, or really wealthy, simply leave your car a quick hop from the platform and give an idle cabbie a few bucks to park it.

How is it that I’ve never heard of this before? It’s genius.

Valet parking at Hummerville Station. What’s next, velvet ropes on the platform?
