Making Your Commute More Fun
Posted by TJ under Uncategorized
Here’s a fun little commuter exercise that most anyone can try. Moments before your train is to arrive, find a place where you can see it approaching from off in the distance, such as an overpass. Set your sights on a late-arriving commuter as they make their way from the parking lot or sidewalk, fumbling with their keys, their bag, their cell phone.
As the train first appears in theĀ distance, train your eyes on the late commuter. Pay specialĀ attention to the very moment when they realize the train is upon them, and they’ll have to kick it into a serious high gear to make it.
The shudder of anxiety that strikes their body. The jerky Flintstone-esque running in place that precedes the sprint. The limbs-akimbo canter–a body last ordered to run in 11th grade gym class–to cover the final 50 yards.
It’s pure comedy.
