Flushing the Day Away
Posted by TJ under Uncategorized
It was great to see people decked out in Mets gear in Grand Central this morning, en route to the Mets’ home opener at Shea. Among other things, their baseball jerseys served as a reminder that the weather might actually rise above 50 in the near future.
But one had to wonder: if they were in Grand Central at 9:30, they’d presumably be arriving at Shea Stadium at 10. The game is 1:10. So…what did they plan on doing until then? Traipsing about Gatsby’s “valley of ashes” and “grotesque gardens” out in Flushing? Searching for a previously owned carburator in the Iron Triangle at Willets Point? Huddling together amidst the 42-and-breezy temps in the parking lot, keeping warm with visions of David Wright homers and El Duque shutouts?
