Are trains the way to beat the weather?
WHITE PLAINS - Freezing rain, ice and sleet are a wicked trio for trains that rely on track switches working properly to deliver people on time.Still, by 9 a.m. today there were no delays or weather related problems to report from the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, a spokesman said.“We have been doing just fine,” Metro-North’s Dan Brucker said.
With as many as three dozen accidents and stalled vehicles on parkways and major roads in the LoHud during the morning rush hour taking the train today may be a safer bet, railroad officials said.
