Overheard on the 8:43
Posted by TJ under White Plains, cell phone
Asian woman, bleached blonde hair (roots), twentysomething.
Sort of pretty. Enters at White Plains. Talking on cell.
Sits. Still talking on cell.
“When’s the Super Bowl???”…
“This Sunday or next???”…
“Duh! I can’t. I work on Sunday.”…
“I work six days a week.”…
“Yup.”…
“Right.”…
“Yup.”…
“Right.”…
“I’ll call you later.”
Just thought y’all should know.

I’m still so amazed at people’s cell-phone etiquette. Even after all these years (it’s been maybe ten since the cell-phone revolution?). It’s yet another reason why the subway - except when it’s above ground and you can access the satelite systems - is better than the railroad. Yes, I know you get knocked over when the train stops abruptly - which is always. Yes, I know you get buskers. Yes, I know you regularly stare into someone’s armpit on a crowded train. Yes, I know the door shutting on your ass is not the most pleasant experience in the world - nor is the sound of people complaining because the door won’t shut (but that works on metro north or the LIRR also). Still, you gotta love the peculiarities of a new york subway experience if you want to stay beneath the skyline.
